In the beginning, the world was grey, colorless, and shrouded in deep fog. All that dwelt within it were grey crags, archtrees, and everlasting dragons.
Then, Fire was born, and with it, came Disparity.
They came. They came to the Fire, and in it, found the souls of Lords. Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. Nito, the GraveLord, first of the dead. The Witch of Izalith, and her Daughters of Chaos. And the Furtive Pygmy, so easily forgotten.
With the strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons. And with the aid of Seath, the Scaleless, who betrayed his own kind, defeated the dragons, and so began the Age of Fire.
And on the first day, man was granted a soul, and with it, clarity. And on the second day was placed upon the earth a terrible plague; a soul-devouring demon. The soul arts spread, and soon after came the Deep Fog. All within the Fog was lost, destroyed by the demons, before a small group became the Monumentals, half living sentinels who guarded the fabric of reality. They built the Nexus, and, using it, sealed away the Old One, the Nothingness that spawned demons to feed it souls, into slumber. Ages passed, and mankind forgot its history. Then Old King Allant revived the soul arts, knowing that their reawakening would beckon the Deep Fog and thus the Old One. And indeed, after several years of prosperity, the Deep Fog came. Several years passed before a lone, nameless knight journeyed to Boletaria, slew the demons, and lulled the Old One back to its ancient slumber.
Time passed, and the fires began to fade. The Dark seemed near, and with it, a new plague arose; the Darksign began to appear on the newly dead, beckoning them back to walk the earth as undead. They were corralled to the North for several centuries before the Chosen Undead came. He, heir of the Furtive Pygmy and wielder of the Dark Soul, made pilgrimage to the Land of Ancient Lords, Lordran, and slew the primeval Lords. Upon the Death of Lord Gwyn, he became the Dark Lord, and ushered in the Age of Dark. Now, less than a century later, the world is changed. Lands are being reclaimed and new lands are being lost to the Deep Fog. The remaining Linked Fires are scattered and fading. The world is at a crossroads. The abyss, so long gazed unto, now gazez unto thee. Light becomes Dark, and in the Dark is found the greatest Light. Only candles, little souls in the Dark, now remain.
What lies within your soul?

Welcome to Souls in the Dark! This a dark high fantasy campaign set in the world of the video games Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, set several decades after the events of Dark Souls. The campaign will be played in Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 format (I might change this to Pathfinder later) and currently has open slots. The direction and story of the campaign will be greatly affected by the characters collectively and individually; there’s a lot of freedom. The rest of the wiki is still being construction, so if you have any questions, please ask!
